The moon shape bird/block is made from maple with a redwood core on an inlaid maple nest, and is secured with contrasting deer hide laces. Below the nest is inlaid crushed moonstone that centers my hand burned morning star, for a sparkly touch. Finished with multiple coats of hand rubbed, food safe natural oils and waxes. This nicely balanced flute measures a total of 24-1/2" in length with a 1-1/8" bore diameter. The flute is surprisingly lightweight for its size and weighs 8.5 oz.
Tuned to a D minor pentatonic scale the voice is warm, resonant and loud, mellow but very responsive and has excellent projection and stage presence. All of my flutes are currently provided with a hand sewn fleece draw string bag for protection. All flutes are shipped U.S. FREE!
