The classic style bird/block is made from walnut with a spalted maple core on an inlaid walnut nest, and is secured with contrasting deer hide laces. Below the nest is inlaid crushed amethyst that centers my hand burned morning star, for a sparkly touch. Finished with multiple coats of hand rubbed, food safe natural oils and waxes. This nicely balanced flute measures a total of 25" in length with a 1-1/8" bore diameter. The flute is surprisingly lightweight for its size and weighs 13 oz.
Tuned to a D minor pentatonic scale the voice is warm and full, moving and mellow but very responsive and has excellent projection and stage presence. All of my flutes are currently provided with a hand sewn fleece draw string bag for protection. All flutes are shipped U.S. FREE!
