Beautiful Native Style flute in the key of Dm from Tree of Life Designs. Bored from a solid blank of beautifully curly and highly figured African black limba wood. The photos do not do this flute justice!
The classic style bird/block is made from ebony wood with a black limba core on an inlaid ebony nest, and is secured with contrasting deer hide laces. The flute features inlaid bands of crushed jet stone at the mouth and foot ends. Below the nest is inlaid jet that centers my hand burned morning star. The lovely curl in the wood is hard to photograph, but is there when turned in the light and shines! The deep graining has some horizontal "squiggles" in the figuring that is part of the wood, not a flaw. Finished with multiple coats of hand rubbed, food safe natural oils and waxes. This very lightweight and nicely balanced flute measures a total of 24" in length with a 1-1/8" bore diameter. The flute weighs 9.5 oz.
Tuned to an D minor pentatonic scale the vibrant voice projects very well and has a low and haunting meditative and mellow tone. All of my flutes are currently provided with a hand sewn fleece draw string bag for protection. All flutes are shipped Priority Mail with signature required and insurance.
*All Tree of Life Flutes are electronically tuned for accuracy. Each is individually voiced for strength and quality of the sound as well as playability. They feature a modest back pressure, play well softly but especially love to be pushed. Each flute I make comes with my concern for your satisfaction in mind. Each is line bored from a solid blank, not split, and finished with natural oils. My workmanship and your satisfaction are guaranteed.
**Disclaimer: Some of the flutes that I make are Native American in Style only. My products are not Native made, I am not and make no claims to any Native heritage or Tribal affiliation.
