The classic style bird/block is made from bocote wood with an ebony core on an inlaid bocote nest, and is secured with contrasting deer hide laces. Below the nest is inlaid crushed jet that centers my hand burned morning star. The holes are offset for ease of play for a right-handed player. Finished with multiple coats of hand rubbed, food safe natural oils and waxes. This nicely balanced flute measures a total of 25" in length with a 1-1/8" bore diameter. The flute is surprisingly lightweight for its size and weighs 10.8 oz.
Black limba is a great tone wood, perfect for musical instruments! Tuned to a D minor pentatonic scale the voice is rich, full, and round, moving and mellow but very responsive and has excellent projection and stage presence. All of my flutes are currently provided with a hand sewn fleece draw string bag for protection. All flutes are shipped U.S. FREE!
